  • A sample letter. This letter can be used to ask your Senators to co-sponsor S. 2523 and S. 2684. Co-sponsoring legislation demonstrates a Member of Congress’s support for a particular bill. The more co-sponsors a bill has, the faster it is likely to move through Congress.
  • Information for Congressional staff. The S. 2523 and S. 2684 bill summaries can be sent to Congressional staff with your letter.
  • SEVRA and NHTF toolkits. The toolkits contain helpful information including a summary of the legislation, fact sheets, and state specific data.
  • NHTF Talking Points. This document provides information about key provisions in the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund Act of 2007.

The National Affordable Housing Trust Fund Act of 2007, S. 2523, would create a source of revenue for the production of new housing and the preservation or rehabilitation of existing housing that is affordable for low income people. The Section Eight Voucher Reform Act (SEVRA), S. 2684, would make significant improvements to the “Section 8” Housing Choice Voucher program, and allow the programs resources to be used more efficiently and effectively.
