Today, the comprehensive housing bill, S. 896, which contains the HEARTH Act, passed overwhelmingly in both the House and Senate.  The legislation will not only reauthorize HUD's McKinney-Vento program, but will truly transform federal homelessness assistance, giving communities a more efficient and effective program with which to combat homelessness.  The bill now heads to President Obama for his signature.  He is expected to sign the legislation into law very shortly.
 
Congratulations to all of you who have worked SO hard for SO long to make McKinney Reauthorization a reality.  We are grateful for your dedication and persistence!
