Dear (HOUSING STAFFER),

I am writing to urge Representative (___________) to sign onto a “Dear Colleague” letter being circulated by Representatives Gwen Moore (D-WI) and Geoff Davis (R-KY) in support of funding HUD’s McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants at $2.4 billion in FY 2011. The deadline for signing the letter is March 17. A copy of the letter is attached.

We greatly appreciate your commitment to ending homelessness and thank you for helping to enact the HEARTH Act last year, which reauthorizes the McKinney program. The HEARTH Act increases assistance for families and continues to focus on ending chronic homelessness.

To learn more about how Homeless Assistance Grants are being used to end homelessness, I would encourage you to attend a Congressional briefing on Policy Solutions to Chronic Homelessness, Tuesday, March 23 at 10:00 am. Details about the event are below. Speakers will discuss highly effective and cost-efficient interventions, similar to (PROGRAM NAME) in (CITY), which connect people with affordable housing and services.
