“Uniting For Solutions Beyond Shelter: The Action Plan for New York City,” is a ten-year action plan that brings together the business, nonprofit, and public sector communities to address the challenging issue of homelessness at its core, rather than manage it at the margins. A coordinating committee has produced a nine-point strategy that aims to:

Prevent homelessness

Coordinate discharge planning

Coordinate city services and benefits

Minimize disruptions to families whose homelessness cannot be prevented

Minimize duration of homelessness

Shift resources into preferred solutions

Provide resources for vulnerable populations to access afford housing

Measure progress, evaluate success, and invest in continuous improvement
These strategies will reshape the city’s approach to assisting at-risk and homeless New Yorkers.
