On May 17, 2005, the City of Cambridge published the “Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness in Cambridge.” The framework of this plan includes prevention, interventions, and permanent supportive housing. Obstacles to achieving success are identified as the regional nature of homelessness, the high cost of housing, a lack of subsidies and other funding, and problematic personal histories. The plan concludes with recommendations to the federal, state, and local levels and recommendations to improve State and local coordination.
