The National Conference on Ending Homelessness, put on every year by the National Alliance to End Homelessness took place July 29-31, 2009 at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel in Washington, DC.
Keynote speakers for the event included:
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan
Secretary Donovan has announced his intent to move HUD toward a greater focus on responsibility, transparency, and effectiveness.
Senator Jack Reed (D - RI)
The senator is a well-respected leader who lead the successful effort to reauthorize the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance programs and has been instrumental in provision of numerous resources for homeless and at-risk individuals and families.
Adolfo Carrión, Director of the White House Office of Urban Affairs
Mr. Carrión has been a leader in addressing the needs of our nation's urban areas, including homelessness, first in New York City and now at the White House.
Professor Dennis Culhane, University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice
Dr. Culhane's research on homelessness and housing has helped to transform how the United States addresses homelessness.
