Media Advisory: First Lady Michelle Obama to Speak at Alliance National Conference

July 28, 2014 First Lady Michelle Obama will speak about the Administration’s commitment to ending veteran homelessness on Thursday, July 31, the third day of the 2014 National Conference on Ending Homelessness at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel. The largest event of its kind, the conference will draw more than 1,600 people from across the country, including federal and local officials, homeless advocates, and others working on the front lines of the fight to end homelessness in the U.S.

It examines trends in homelessness between 2012 and 2013, trends in populations at-risk of homelessness from 2011 to 2012, trends in assistance available to persons experiencing homelessness, and establishes a baseline from which to measure changes in the homeless assistance system enacted by the Homeless Emergency Assistance and Rapid Transition to Housing (HEARTH) Act.
