Conference Presentations from 3.5 Coordinated Response: Rapid Re-Housing and Employment at the 2013 National Conference on Ending Family and Youth Homelessness

The Alliance is looking forward to seeing you in Seattle on Thursday, February 21, and Friday, February 22 for the 2013 National Conference on Ending Family and Youth Homelessness.

The resource provides an overview of how some communities are using TANF funds for short-term rent assistance and how TANF agencies can help improve the self-sufficiency of families.

This promising strategy profile examines a unique partnership between a homeless service provider and a state agency administering the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families  to help homeless Idaho families rapidly exit homelessness and re-stabilize in homes of their own.

This resource provides the Alliance's comments on the Medicaid Proposed Rule of January 22, 2013. The Alliance's comments address several issues that affect vulnerable adults who are chronically homeless, at-risk of becoming chronically homeless, or recovering from chronic homelessness in permanent supportive housing.

This certification process was developed by the National Alliance to End Homelessness to certify providers as proficient in providing rapid re-housing assistance. This document describes the certification process and standards. A separate document, Application for Rapid Re-Housing Certification, is the document that should be completed to apply for certification.

The Alliance's Homelessness Research Institute (HRI) is seeking data from the Point-In-Time Counts conducted by Continuums of Care (CoCs) last month. If you have 2013 count information available for your community, including any detailed data on specific subpopulations such as youth, families, and chronically homeless persons, please send it to the Alliance at counts@naeh.org. You contribution is invaluable to the Alliance's work to prevent and end homelessness.

The Alliance is pleased to announce that the lineups for each of the plenary sessions at the 2013 National Conference on Ending Family and Youth Homelessness are confirmed. Among the speakers will be Mark Johnston, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Special Needs and Delegated Authority over Community Planning and Development Programs, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Nan Roman, president and CEO of the Alliance.

The Alliance is honored to welcome U.S. Senator Patty Murray of Washington State as the keynote speaker for the lunch plenary of the 2013 National Conference on Ending Family and Youth Homelessness on Friday, February 22. Senator Murray has been a longtime leader in the homelessness field at the national level, and attendees can look forward to hearing her perspective on support in Congress for the work by the Alliance and its partners to end homelessness.

This document is intended to help answer key questions communities may have about the assessment and referral pieces of coordinated assessment and provide guidance based on work the National Alliance to End Homelessness has done with other communities.

Registration for the 2013 National Conference on Ending Family and Youth Homelessness may close early due to overwhelming response. With roughly 60 registration slots available for the conference taking place in Seattle, WA, at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel on Thursday, February 21 and Friday, February 22, the Alliance is encouraging everyone who plans to attend to register as soon as possible.
