Congress Expected to Pass Short-Term FY 2011 Funding Measure
Last night, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced that there were insufficient votes to pass the Senate's proposed fiscal year (FY) 2011 omnibus funding bill. Congress is expected to pass a short-term stopgap funding measure - or continuing resolution (CR) - lasting into early next year. At that point, the new Congress will make final decisions about FY 2011 funding levels for key programs affecting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. What You Can Do:
Let us know if you have a new Member of Congress. If a new senator or representative was elected in November to represent your district or state, please let us know. They will play a role in setting FY 2011 funding levels. Contact Amanda Krusemark at akrusemark@naeh.org with this information.
Work with us to educate your new and returning Members of Congress next year on the importance of key federal programs for preventing and ending homelessness.
The Alliance would like to thank everyone for all of their hard work over the last many months on these funding measures. The increases proposed by the House and Senate to key federal homelessness assistance programs - despite an incredibly tough budget climate - are testament to the great work that you do every day.
Happy holidays!
