House T-HUD Subcommittee Expected to Mark Up FY 2011 Bill on Thursday |
THIS Thursday, July 1, the House Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development (T-HUD) Appropriations Subcommittee is scheduled to mark up its Fiscal Year (FY) 2011 spending bill. The bill will propose funding levels for HUD programs affecting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants, Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, and many others.
.
We need YOUR help to make a BIG push with the House T-HUD Subcommittee on funding for the McKinney program.
-
Call/email the housing staffer TODAY in the offices of your Representatives who sit on the T-HUD Subcommittee (see below for a complete list). Urge them to re-iterate their support to Chairman Olver and Ranking Member Latham for funding McKinney programs at $2.4 billion in the FY 2011 bill. Congressional office phone numbers can be found by calling the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121.
-
If you don't have a Representative on the T-HUD Subcommittee, urge other Representatives, especially members of the full Appropriations Committee, to also express their support to Chairman Olver and Ranking Member Latham for a funding level of $2.4 billion. Call/email the housing staffer and ask if his/her boss would send a letter like the one attached.
-
More Information In its FY 2011 budget proposal, the Administration proposed a funding level of $2.055 billion, a 10 percent increase over FY 2010. In order to fully implement the HEARTH Act and ensure that communities have the same level of funding for new Continuum of Care projects, McKinney programs will need to be funded at $2.4 billion in FY 2011.
