Hill Update

Appropriations Work Continues
On Wednesday, July 13, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science is scheduled to mark up the first draft of an appropriations bill for FY 2012 that contains funding for juvenile justice, prisoner re-entry, and domestic violence programs. The Alliance will be sure to release the details of both of these bills once they are available.

The Senate is tentatively scheduled to vote on and pass the final version of the Veterans Affairs appropriations bill for FY 2012 tomorrow, July 13. The bill contains $939 million over two years for programs targeted toward homeless veterans, including $224 million for the Grant and Per Diem Program. These are the same levels requested by the President in his February Budget Proposal.

Policy Update Webinar Materials Online

Last Thursday, July 7, the Alliance hosted a Federal Policy Update webinar. The webinar was intended to prepare participants and State Captains for this week's Capitol Hill Day at the National Conference on Ending Homelessness. Presenters provided an overview of logistics and the policy agenda for Capitol Hill Day. Presenters included Steve Berg, Kate Seif, Amanda Krusemark, Lisa Stand, and Samantha Batko from the Alliance.
