On Tuesday, July 6, the Alliance hosted a federal policy update call in preparation for Capitol Hill Day. The call covered key talking points, action needed, and the latest updates on several key federal policies around preventing and ending homelessness. Topics covered included HUD's McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants appropriations, Section 8 appropriations (including the Administration's proposed "Housing and Services for Homeless Persons Demonstration"), SAMHSA Homeless Services appropriations, Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) appropriations, the Zero Tolerance for Veterans' Homelessness Act, and the National Housing Trust Fund.
