Judy Woodruff of PBS’s NewsHour, Cecilia Muñoz, Director, White House Domestic Policy Council, Speak Out on Homelessness
Washington, D.C. – PBS Senior Correspondent Judy Woodruff of PBS’s NewsHour will speak about ending homelessness Tuesday, July 23, the second day of the 2013 National Conference on Ending Homelessness at the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel. The largest event of its kind, the conference will draw around 1,600 people from across the country, including federal and local officials, filmmakers, advocates, and people working on the front lines of the fight to end homelessness.
Cecilia Muñoz, Director, White House Domestic Policy Council, will also speak on the third day of the conference, Wednesday, July 24, about progress on Opening Doors, the administration’s strategy to prevent and end homelessness. Nan Roman, president and CEO of the National Alliance to End Homelessness will deliver Keynote remarks during the Opening Plenary session of the first day of the conference, July 22.
In addition to participating in discussions about the impact of health care reform, the progress toward ending veteran homelessness by the end of 2015, and services and data on homeless youth, conference-goers will attend a screening of "The Invisible War," a documentary about the systemic cover-up of sexual assault in the military. Following the screening, Rear Admiral Susan Blumenthal, former assistant surgeon general, will join Maria Cuomo Cole, chairman of HELP USA and an executive producer of the film, for a panel discussion.
