Northwest Louisiana developed a plan to end homelessness by the year 2014. A collaborative of 60 public and private organizations formed Homeless Organizations Providing Empowerment (HOPE) which committed itself to the development of a plan to end homelessness in NW Louisiana. Utilizing essentials outlined by the National Alliance to End Homelessness, this plan calls for planning for outcomes, prevention through closing the front door, housing first and closing the back door, and building the infrastructure, ensuring that there are enough supportive housing units.
