Files: PDF | 3125 KB| 96 pages

Van Buren County has developed a ten-year plan to address homelessness according to the region's unique needs as an agrarian community. Primary goals are to prevent homelessness through assistance before eviction, to create safe and affordable housing, to lower poverty and to improve education in the current and future generations. Services should consider the growing diversity among homeless people, including substance abuse, domestic violence, young age and veteran status. For those who are already homeless, the cooperation of service providers and the creation of a single point of entry into the system would help greatly.
