The North Carolina Interagency Council for Coordinating Homeless Programs is shaping homeless policy in the state through the creation of a “10 Year Plan to End Homelessness.” Their mission is that North Carolina will significantly reduce the number of people experiencing homelessness across the state. Five goals are outlined in the plan to support this mission:

  1. Increase state level commitment and leadership to ensure sustained political will for development and implementation of the Plan
  2. Implement aggressive prevention strategies including discharge planning and targeted assistance to individual households
  3. Develop more permanent supported housing
  4. Local communities across North Carolina will develop local 10 Year Plans
This Plan was announced in February 2005.
