Rapid Re-Housing Demonstration Program
|
|
Other | September 17, 2009Congress allocated $25 million for a Rapid Re-Housing Demonstration to serve homeless families. The 23 communities that received grants awards under the Demonstration represent a wide variety of communities, urban, suburban, and rural, that will use the funding resources to provide short- or medium-term rental assistance, housing location assistance, and home-based case management. Each community has developed a centralized intake process and will use a common assessment tool to identify families with moderate barriers to accessing assistance. The experiences of the 23 communities can be an important resource for communities developing Rapid Re-Housing programs to serve families using Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Programs or other funding resources. The Alliance plans to provide more detailed information about the programs in the months to explore promising strategies that can be translated to other communities.
