Encouraging representatives from the media to attend a site visit can give both your organization and the Member of Congress positive press attention. Send out a media advisory like the one below to let members of the media know the event is happening.

WHAT: Visit by (REPRESENTATIVE/SENATOR X) to (PROGRAM NAME)
On (DATE OF SITE VISIT), U.S. (SENATOR/REPRESENTATIVE X) will discuss efforts to prevent and end homelessness in (CITY) and will tour (PROGRAM NAME), which (PREVENTS AND/OR ENDS) homelessness for (VETERANS, FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN, AND/OR YOUTH) in our community.
The meeting will allow the (SENATOR’S/REPRESENTATIVE’S) constituents to brief (HIM/HER) on (POLICY ISSUE). Advocates hope to gain (SENATOR/REPRESENTATIIVE X’S) support for federal legislation to (POLICY REQUEST). The meeting will include an overview of how (PROGRAM NAME) serves people experiencing or at risk of homelessness and testimony from a program participant on how (HIS/HER) homelessness was (PREVENTED/ENDED) through the program.
