Working Poor Population by State

The Alliance research brief Economy Bytes: Working Poor People in the United States estimates that there are 8.01 million people in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico who work at least 27 weeks per year but still fall at or below the poverty line. This map shows how many of the 8.01 million reside in each state. This ranges from a low of 11,280 in Alaska to a high of 914,699 in California.
