Last week, the Administration released its fiscal year (FY) 2015 Budget Proposal, which included $2.405 billion for HUD's McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants - a 14 percent increase over the final FY 2014 funding level! On Thursday, March 6 at 2 p.m. ET, the Alliance will host its annual webinar on the President's fiscal year (FY) 2015 Budget Proposal. The webinar will provide an overview of the federal budget process, an analysis of the President's FY 2015 Budget Proposal, and launch the Alliance's FY 2015 advocacy campaigns.

On Monday, January 13, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees released the final version of fiscal year (FY) 2014 funding legislation. The bill includes $2.105 billion for HUD's McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants, a $176 million increase over FY 2013;

The federal funding process for fiscal year (FY) 2014 is widely expected to come to a close sometime next week. The ongoing final negotiations offer us an opportunity to make one final push for at least $2.26 billion for HUD's McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants in FY 2014.

The webinar will cover the funding outlook for Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers and how upcoming federal budget policy decisions could impact community efforts to end homelessness.

Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA), has introduced legislation (H.R. 2790) including language that would allow nonprofits to administer rental assistance. If you are concerned about nonprofits in your Continuum no longer being able to administer rental assistance, this is your chance to address that! We need to ensure this legislation has as many cosponsors as possible.

The Senate HUD funding bill for fiscal year (FY) 2014 is in jeopardy! Currently, Senate leaders are not certain that there is enough support to bring the measure to the Senate floor for a final vote on the legislation (which includes a significant increase for McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants, Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, CDBG, and numerous other HUD programs).

Last Tuesday, the Senate advanced the fiscal year (FY) 2014 funding bill for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to the Senate floor. Now, Senators have been offering amendments to the bill and the full Senate is expected to address those amendments and the legislation in its entirety by the end of the week.

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved its fiscal year (FY) 2014 funding legislation earlier this month. The next step in the process is to advance the legislation to the full Senate for approval from the entire chamber. Sen. Mikulski (D-MD), chairwoman of the Appropriations Committee, intends for the HUD funding legislation to be a so-called litmus test for the remaining funding bills. The legislation received bipartisan support in the Committee and we must make sure that support extends to the full Senate.
