Release of “The Soloist” in Theaters
April 24, 2009
On April 24, 2009, "The Soloist" premiered in theaters.
The movie is based on the book, "The Soloist: A Lost Dream, an Unlikely Friendship, and the Redemptive Power of Music" by Steve Lopez, columnist for the Los Angeles Times. Both the book and the film examine the friendship between Mr. Lopez and Nathaniel Ayers, a chronically homeless man who struggles with mental illness and was once accepted to The Julliard School. The film stars Jamie Foxx as Nathaniel Ayers and Robert Downey, Jr. as Steve Lopez.
