National Alliance to End Homelessness Photo Contest
Official Rules

The National Alliance to End Homelessness (the “Alliance”) is sponsoring a photo contest beginning on August 9, 2010 and ending September 24, 2010.

Below are the official rules and regulations of the contest. For more information about the contest, please do not hesitate to contact the Alliance.

Criteria

The Alliance is seeking photographs and images that best capture the essence of ending homelessness. The central theme of the contest is, “This is what ending homelessness looks like.”

How to Enter and Conditions of Entry

• Complete an online entry form available at: http://cathy687.wufoo.com/forms/alliance-picture-contest-submission-form/
• Photo should be submitted in .png, .jp., or .gif formats and no larger than 5 MB
• Photos should not include watermarks, signatures, or any distinguishing marks.
• Photos may not be inappropriate, offensive, libelous or defamatory, pornographic, sexually explicit, unlawful or plagiarized, as determined by the sponsors; photos must not be harassing, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, profane, obscene, excessively violent, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable or offensive in any way, as determined by the Alliance. Such photos will be immediately disqualified.
• Photos may not violate or encourage others to violate any applicable law, statute, ordinance or regulation, may not defame or invade publicity rights or privacy of any person, living or deceased, or otherwise infringe upon any person's personal or property rights or any other third party rights, may not contain commercial/corporate advertising, including but not limited to corporate logos, brand names, and slogans, other than those relating to the Alliance. Such photos will be immediately disqualified.
• Photos may not include any viruses, worms, corrupt files, Trojan horses, or other forms of corruptive code or content that may harm or compromise the Alliance website or entry form. Such photos will be immediately disqualified.
• By submitting an entry, an entrant confirms that:
  - he/she has the unrestricted right to submit the Artwork;
  - all persons whose name, voice or likeness appears in the artwork ("artwork participants") have unconditionally consented in writing to their appearance in the artwork and unconditionally granted the entrant in writing the right to submit the artwork, subject to these Official Rules, a copy of which consent and grant will be furnished to the Alliance upon request;
  - and that the artwork does not infringe upon any third party's proprietary or other rights.
• Upon submission, the entrant grants an irrevocable, non-exclusive worldwide royalty-free license to the National Alliance to End Homelessness to use the photograph for any purposes. This license grant includes permission for the National Alliance to End Homelessness to grant third parties the right to use the photograph.
• By submitting an entry, Entrant hereby waives, and agrees not to assert, any Moral Rights that it may have with respect to the entry. “Moral Rights” means any right to claim authorship of a work, any rights to object to any distortion or other modification of a work, and any similar right, existing under the laws of any country in the world or under any treaty at any time.
• Only one submission per day per entrant is permitted.
• Final submissions must be received no later than Friday, September 17 at 11:59 p.m. Entries submitted after that time and date will not be considered.
• The Alliance reserves the right to discard any photographs from consideration for any reason and without notification.
• Only online submissions received through the official entry form will be considered.

Winner Selection

Submitted artwork will be judged and evaluated by members of the Alliance staff, outside homelessness experts, and other national partners who will determine the winner of the contest applying the Criteria identified above. Factors that the judges will consider include creativity, originality, clarity of message, and aesthetic value. A panel of judges will narrow the submissions to the top five entries and then vote to determine the winner of the five.

The odds of winning depend on the total number of entries received. The winner will be selected on Friday, September 24.

The Prize

• Contest prizes include complimentary registration at the National Conference on Ending Homelessness in 2011. The winning piece of artwork will be featured in the design for the 2011 National Conference on Ending Homelessness brochures, materials, and website. The approximate value of the prize is $500.
• Travel, lodging, and other expenses associated with the National Conference on Ending Homelessness in 2011 will not be provided.
• One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded to the winner of the winner of the photo contest; no other prizes will be awarded.

Who Can Enter

Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to participate in the contest. This Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law and is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Employees of the National Alliance to End Homelessness and its immediate family members (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses, regardless of where they live) or persons living in the same households of such employees, whether or not related are not eligible.

Limitations on Liability

All participants are solely responsible for ensuring current and valid contact information. Return or undeliverable notifications may result in forfeiture of the prize. Sponsors and judges are not responsible for late, lost, stolen, damaged, garbled, incomplete, misaddressed, postage due, incorrect or misdirected entries, mail or communications, for errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, or delays in operations or transmission of information, in each case whether arising by way of technical or other failures or malfunctions of computer hardware, software, communications devices, or transmission lines or data corruption, theft, destruction, unauthorized access to or alteration of entry materials, loss or otherwise. Sponsors and judges not responsible for electronic communications which are undeliverable as a result of any form of active or passive filtering of any kind, or insufficient space in Entrant's e-mail account to receive e-mail messages. Sponsors disclaim any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participation in, or accessing, posting, uploading or downloading information in connection with, this Contest, and reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend this Contest should any virus, bug, technical failures, unauthorized human intervention or other causes beyond Sponsors' reasonable control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Contest.
