We drive effective solutions through:

Collaborative Advocacy

Government Engagement

We educate lawmakers at all levels to advance proactive solutions and secure increased resources for homelessness response, affordable housing, and supportive services.

Field Support

Make Your Voice Heard

The Alliance works with advocates from across the country to drive change at the local, state, and federal levels. We believe everyone can be an advocate — and lawmakers are most responsive when they hear directly from their constituents. Throughout the year we mobilize concerned supporters with opportunities to educate their lawmakers and advocate online. We partner with local advocates for virtual and in-person meetings with congressional offices, and bring people together annually for Capitol Hill Day, where advocates meet directly with legislators to share their stories and push for change.

To end homelessness, we must advance evidence-based policy and increase the availability of and access to affordable and quality housing, healthcare, and other supportive services for everyone, especially those at disproportionate risk of homelessness. We are also pushing back against punitive laws at all levels of government that take short-sighted and harmful approaches that punish people experiencing homelessness and who have nowhere else to go.

The work to end homelessness is urgent and persistent. And yet, the homelessness services workforce is woefully underpaid and overworked resulting in low capacity, high staff turnover, and far too many frontline staff at risk of or experiencing homelessness themselves. The Alliance promotes policy solutions and expanding resources that will allow for the right-sizing of the workforce.

The Alliance leverages our areas of influence to elevate and promote equitable policy solutions informed by those closest to the problem including people with current and past lived experience of homelessness as well as frontline service providers and community leaders engaged in implementing federal, state, and local policy to prevent and end homelessness.
