Assistant Director of the Center for Capacity Building

Position Summary
The Assistant Director of the Center for Capacity Building will assist the Director of Capacity Building to establish the National Alliance to End Homelessness’ Center for Capacity Building as a key resource for state and local governments, communities, and nonprofit programs wishing to implement the core strategies of their plans to prevent and end homelessness.

Specific Responsibilities
The Assistant Director of Capacity Building is responsible for:

  • Developing training and technical assistance programs and materials in conjunction with other Alliance staff.
  • Delivering training and technical assistance.
  • Overseeing Center staff in the delivery of training and technical assistance.
  • Managing the logistics in the delivery of training and technical assistance.
  • Identifying and serving as liaison with consultants and independent trainers and technical assistance providers who may supplement the work of the Center.
  • Supporting systems to track training and technical assistance needs as well as the impact and outcomes of delivery of training and technical assistance.
  • Assisting with fundraising and reporting to funders.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Director of the Center for Capacity Building, including assisting with Alliance activities such as conferences and publications.

Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of homeless housing and assistance programs and systems and direct experience working in or with the homeless assistance system.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing training and technical assistance and developing models for delivery of training and technical assistance.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, initiate, and implement tasks and initiatives and to set and manage realistic goals, organize professionals, and complete multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated knowledge transfer skills.
  • In addition, the successful candidate will hold at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree, and, preferably, a master’s degree in related disciplines; have at least 7 years of experience in homeless assistance, training, technical assistance or related fields; have excellent written and oral communication skills; and have a working knowledge of the MS Office Software Suite.

Compensation
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Participation in employee health and retirement plans is available. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Development Associate

Position Summary
The Development Associate is charged with assisting the President and senior staff in the execution of an integrated development plan to meet both the annual and longer-term financial needs of the Alliance.

Specific Responsibilities
The Development Associate is resonsible for:

  • Research and target foundations, corporations, individuals, and government agencies;
  • Create and manage donor database;
  • Design and maintain calendar of proposal deadlines for development staff and reports from the program staff;
  • Assist in the implementation of a funding strategy for the organization and write proposals and progress reports;
  • Coordinate quarterly mailings and newsletters to funders; and
  • Assist in the planning and execution of special events.

Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent writing, research, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
  • Strong commitment to ending homelessness in America.

In addition, the successful candidate will hold at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree, and will have a working knowledge of MS Office software suite.

Meeting and Event Coordinator

Position Summary
The Meeting and Events Coordinator is charged with the planning and oversight of Alliance conferences, meetings and special events. This mid-level position will be responsible for working with Alliance staff to develop content and program goals and to ensure that Alliance conferences and events provide participants from the nonprofit, public and corporate sectors the necessary tools to be active partners in the movement to end homelessness.

Specific Responsibilities
Oversee planning and logistical details related to the following activities:

  • two annual conferences
  • annual awards ceremony and other special events
  • Board of Director, Executive Committee and Standing Committee meetings of the Board of Directors.
  • Participate in and contribute to programmatic and content development discussions for all event activities in partnership with other Alliance staff.
  • Coordinate site selection and conference planning
  • Develop and manage budgets, timelines and schedules
  • Coordinate the preparation of event/meeting-related materials
  • Manage lists related to conference marketing and attendance

Essential Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have at least three years of:

  • Special events and/or meetings coordination experience including demonstrated experience producing and coordinating fundraising events
  • Demonstrated ability to produce special events and meetings within budget and on schedule while remaining creative
  • A commitment to working in an environment that is dedicated to social change. In addition, the successful candidate will hold at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree, and will have a working knowledge of the MS Office Software Suite.
