The Homelessness Research Institute is the research and education arm of the Alliance and is tasked with building the intellectual capital around homelessness and disseminating that information in a clear, comprehensible way.

The goals of the Homelessness Research Institute are to build the intellectual capital around solutions to homelessness; to advance data and research so that policymakers, practitioners, and the caring public have the best information about trends in homelessness and emerging solutions; and to engage the media to ensure intelligent reporting on the issue.

The Homelessness Research Institute is led by Director M William Sermons.
