Federal Homelessness Appropriations

Each year, Congress passes a budget, allocating funds to federal programs, including housing and homelessness programs.

LATEST NEWS:

On February 13, the President released his fiscal year (FY) 2013 Budget Proposal, which laid out the Administration’s priorities for a variety of homeless assistance, affordable housing, and low-income programs. On April 19, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved its funding levels for the Department of Housing and Urban Development for FY 2013.

The chart below represents various funding levels (FY 2012, proposed by the President for FY 2013, the Senate's FY 2013 levels, and the House's FY 2013 levels). Please note that blank spaces indicate that this information is not yet available.  The levels listed under the "Senate" and "House" columns indicate levels proposed by the appropriate Appropriations Subcommittees (denoted by **), the full Appropriations Committee (denoted by *), or the full chamber.
